What happened to PIA S5 Proxy?
Site, dashboard and S5 client offline since January 2026.
PIA S5 Proxy (piaproxy.com) was part of the same IPIDEA-linked ecosystem as several other proxy brands. When enforcement and infrastructure disruption hit that ecosystem in early 2026, the retail storefront — the site you logged into, the dashboard, and the S5 desktop client — went dark and stayed down.
In plain terms: the storefront you used is gone. The residential IP network behind it still exists and is reachable through official partner integrations — which is how you can still access genuine PIA proxies today.
Does the PIA S5 client download still work?
No. The S5 desktop client depended on the piaproxy.com backend for login and IP assignment. With the storefront offline, downloading and installing the old client won't get you working proxies — there's nothing for it to authenticate against. Don't chase "pia s5 proxy download" links from unknown sites; several are clones.
Is my PIA balance safe?
Treat any balance on the old storefront as at-risk. When a storefront goes offline during an enforcement event, prepaid credit is typically not recoverable and there's no guaranteed restoration timeline. Don't top up the old site; migrate your workload.
Beware of PIA clone sites
After the shutdown, look-alike domains appeared (altered spellings, brand-new registration dates) trying to capture "pia s5 proxy" search traffic and collect card payments. Check domain age and never enter payment details on an anonymous clone.
PIA is the third major S5 network to go this way, after 911 and 922.
